Gabriela ventured to Sutter Park to investigate a lead she’d picked up on a Tzimisce. Upon arriving, she was near immediately attacked by a Tzimisce. She managed to poison her blood and stake the assailant, incapacitating her.

Loading back into the car, she took off for her apartment but noticed someone trailing behind. Unable to lose them, she drove to a secluded parking lot. There she questioned the neonate (and she was solidly a neonate, embraced just last month), who told her nothing much of value other than confirming what she suspected, that her sire, Marouth, the same Marouth who’d attacked and crippled Kabir was her sire, and that she was the one trailing them.

Having history with vampires with that name, Gabriela obfuscated herself to invisibly confront her. They had a brief, tense exchange in which, Gabriela indicated her history with Marouth, and her sire whose name she’d taken. Frustrated near to frenzy, Marouth reached into the car to kill her pathetic progeny, but was parried by a newly visible Gabriela. They knew each other, and a specific date, “May 5th, 1835. In Texas,” confirmed it.

Then, they parted ways, leaving Gabriela with a Tzimisce to take care of, whatever that would mean.

She visited The Cathedral of Blessed Sacrament, where she snuck in and managed to converse with Father Frances without breaking obfuscate. They discussed the fate of orphaned kindred, and whether Frances would follow through on his word to help them. In the end, Frances was a bottle of blood poorer, but decided to leave the doors open.

Gabriela spoke with the Tzimisce, learning that her name was Sam. She was embraced by Marouth just a month ago, while she was squatting in Sutter Park. She thought she’d be given meaning, purpose, but really she was just convenient. This reminded Gabriela of someone, so she took pity on the girl, gave her some blood, took her back to her apartment and told her that tomorrow she’d teach her how to hunt properly.
