Calimastia entered The Cathedral of Blessed Sacrament, where Father Frances waited for her. She explained that the deal was accepted by Prince Sterner and thus he could be expecting a visit from the Keeper of Elysium soon, and people to work out exact details. She suggested also that he find someone within the Camarilla he trusts and undergo an accounting, as it would help with his legitimacy. Frances mused about a presence he’d been caught unawares by twice1:
“Perhaps one of your assassins with a surprisingly good heart. If you know of this person, I would put my trust in her.”
Frances then took Calimastia down to retrieve Barry. Along the way, they ran into another priest, another kindred. On the way out, one of the paintings caught her eye as well:
It portrays two people moving through a path alongside some trees, the oil paint so aged the branches and the leaves seem to meld into one looming shadow. One man, slightly smaller with a curious face, is led by the hand by another, one covered in dark furs, their shaggy face nearly impossible to make out in the composition. In his hands is one crude club, currently at ease.
