Calimastia was called to a private meeting with Archmage Jacobi wherein he asked her to look for relics at The Cathedral of Blessed Sacrament, and warned her there were traitors within the Tremere1. He told her of a thief who’d stolen one of his relics2, something she’d surely look into later.
At The Blessed Sacrament attempted to listen for the voices of the relics. She was immediately intercepted by Father Frances who offered to help her in looking for the relics. They found a hatchet and a long wood pipe buried out back, listened to it whispering of The Saint. The relics had been long buried, but only began to whisper to people recently. Perhaps it was a sign of something.
Frances allowed her to take the relics, but would hold onto one until V&S’s excavation near the cathedral was dealt with. She’d talk to Jacobi.
While he waited for her return, Frances examined the relic left with him, the pipe. It was no mere magic item, forged and buried, but a mundane object infused with power. The infusion, he believed was of one’s soul. He spoke with the soul and it told him The Saint would return, that they burned her once by the river but she would return. Afterwards, he destroyed the pipe.
Calimastia returned to Jacobi, hatchet in hand. She told him The Cathedral was bare of all but one relic she’d retrieve for him, and that V&S had been seized by unknown forces and plotted against him. He set out to investigate, but she quickly suggested simply dissolving the company entirely. He was easily convinced. Then, she returned to Frances to inform him of what had happen.
For his part, Frances explained what he did with the relic in more polite words. He explained it possessed a tormented soul, and that he’d prayed and freed its soul. Though he did pray, and did something one could argue was freeing the soul, it wasn’t thanks to the lord, but occult knowledge and Obtenebration. As an alternative offering to her Primogen, he suggested investigating the river, which she left to do alone.
As Calimastia stalked the river, she heard a voice in Spanish. She couldn’t fully understand it. “Blood,” “river,” “the mission.” She tested the waters and found blood strangely permeating within it, belonging to the Banu Haqim, Malkavians, and Nosferatu. It was thirsty. It took her blood and despite her best efforts, the damage was done.
Then, she reported back to Jacobi. She told him about The Saint and their apparent presence within the river. She suggested he form a new excavation company posthaste to investigate further. Finally, she asked for some information, and a relic to present to the Giovanni at the upcoming gala.
Finally finally, Calimastia met with Don Valentin, seeking out some of his finest craftsmanship to wear to the gala. He’d take a fine chainmail breastplate, apply the symbol of the Hound of the Sheriff, and have it sent to her before the gala.

he doesn't tell her they are warning of the return of a saint, or that they burned and buried that saint's mission by the river and "the spanish" are in the process of rebuilding it
but he does encourage her look for clues around the riverbank as it has a lot of history buried alongside it
calimastia finds whispers and vampire blood in the river that should have been flushed away by now
she tries to bloodrage the river like [Jane Stupid Idea] and exhausts herself to the point of frenzy as it drains her own blood
observers would find an ornamentally scarred woman screaming and punching at water in between gurgling it. Crackheads just aren't what they used to be
after informing the archmage she has found the source of the relics to be a bloodsucking river entity, he regales her with tales of the relics speaking of a saint
the tremere will cease v&s excavations and concentrate on the riverbank
