Gabriela returned home after a hunt to find Sam on the couch watching crime shows. She was studying.

“Yeah. The cop shows. Busting criminals and stuff.” “For when we go hunting, right?” Sam shrugs.

Gabriela apologized for how she’d acted the other night1, and insisted that Sam didn’t need to go on hunts with her if she didn’t want to.

“I’ll go. You just…” Sam’s voice gets a little quieter. “Really, kinda, scared me last night. It was like, I was fighting with my mom again.”

In an attempt to make up for the past few nights, Gabriela handed Sam a poster for an open mic night at a local dive bar. They went, had some drinks, and managed to keep them down long enough to have some fun.

Eventually, Roy climbed onto stage, cheered on by a group of seven or so others which neither Gabriela nor Sam recognized as Ally and her ghoul associates. Roy sang through a not-too-bad cover of Mister Brightside, which was Sam’s favorite song. After he finished up singing, Sam approached the group to chat.

That was when Thalia walked in. They all gathered together in a group, Roy hyped up Thalia to Sam2, she maybe hit on Sam for like a half-second, and then spent some time rage-baiting Gabriela.

In the end, though, Thalia offered Roy’s number to Gabriela who in turn handed it to Sam, as the two seemed to hit it off well, albeit rather awkwardly. They’d need to get her a phone, though.
