Kingsnake met with Kaveh at the Falcron Blacksmith. Her eyes were a striking gold color, not as they had been the night before. A result of Neres’s ritual1, something Kingsnake was all too proud to show off. Kaveh was… concerned by this, but Kingsnake reassured him, so they’d celebrate.
He took her to the back and showed her the armor he’d made for her.
the inside has a padding that’s red in color, it has a pattern all around the chest but that’s not the important thing, inside a beautiful piece of armor lays, a true piece of art with clearly alot of time and effort put into it, it’s decorated with various snakes each with eyes similar to neres, despite being conceal-able it has color, as she picks it up she would notice that the inside has a fabric, it’s warm to the touch and comfortable, it reminds her of how the couch felt the night she stayed over, perhaps kaveh added this with her cold blood in mind
She was almost hesitant to use it as armor. Then, he offered her something to eat. He’d infused some blood into a small piece of candy and handed it to her. Luckily, Kingsnake could eat food, so it was good! She offered to return the favor and bring him some blood bags sometime, as he had a lot to handle with Jensen and Ember.
Speaking of, Jensen came down and Kingsnake was quick to show off her new eyes. She gleefully informed him that the blood bond was just a test!
“Oh, so…did she lift the blood bond?”
She hadn’t. It doesn’t work like that. But they moved on and talked about her being a Setite now, and the power of invoking Set’s name.
“Rituals, Rites. Neres knows more about the rites, but it’s how I changed my clan. I can turn invisible and do some Presence stuff now. Not that much, but maybe I’ll pick up more now that I’m a full fledged Setite.” She seems excited about the prospect of learning more. “But generally, it’s to revere Set and free our souls from bondage placed upon us by the Aeons.”
Jensen asked who the Aeons were, and she explained they took the guise of people like Ra in order to bring all of humanity to obedient slavery.
“Interesting. So a person who enslaves others would be following the values of the Aeons?”
“I umm…” She looks a little caught off guard by that. “-Well the Aeons usually don’t work through individuals as much, they have broader, more insidious means. But yeah, a system that enslaves people to hierarchy is a tool that serves the Aeons.” She pauses. “… Neres blood bonding me isn’t the work of the Aeons.” She says it almost to reassure herself. “It was a test. Sometimes we must be presented with challenges to our faith so that we may overcome them and gain a better understanding of the teachings of Set.”
“Tests are meant to conclude once you complete them. When God tested Abraham, he immediately halted the ritual upon successfully receiving proof of his faith. Could the same be said for a blood bond that cannot be waived?” Jensen pauses for a bit. What he’s about to say is going to be a little harsh.
“What does it mean when you continue to be shackled even after you have served your sentence? At what point does a test become another form of subjugation?”
Upon this line of questioning, Kingsnake left immediately.
Kaveh asked Jensen if he’d accompany him to meet with Father Frances. He also told him about Lorenzo and Frances’s plan to bring back Saint Lucia Santos, a genocidal Spanish colonizer. Crazy. Jensen took this as further evidence as to the rottenness of The Cathedral, assuming that was likely why Bernard had flocked to it.
They made their way to The Blessed Sacrament to speak with Father Frances. He informed them of his meeting with Mordecai2, and that he and Lorenzo would be forgiven for being Lasombra in exchange for helping apprehend Bernard. Then, Jensen asked about The Saint.
“I have another question: what does Father Lorenzo and my sire desire to accomplish? Why do they seek to bring back the Saint?”
Frances pauses for a moment in thought before smiling again, saying “We seek understanding, above all.” “At least for me, I have long been a scholar of His texts, it helps fill my hours of my unlife, especially in…less chaotic times.”
They mused about the Camarilla’s obsession with the relics, and Jensen added that he wasn’t sure if Neres was the best person to hold onto them. He was concerned about her being a Setite and using them for demonic rituals.
This sparked a discussion on the subject of being a vampire and the sort of cognitive dissonance one has to maintain. Jensen, as a Catholic, still wasn’t taking it particularly well, but the others managed to assuage his worries somewhat. Finally, as they left…
Jensen takes a deep breath. Hes still a little shaken up, but has mostly recovered. “Father, I must ask a question about Father Lorenzo. Is he someone to be trusted?”
“He is, yes.”
Jensen nods, reassured. He turns to Kaveh. “And Mr. Falcrone, regarding my sire…” “I never thought to ask, but…Is there a specific reason you seek to stake him?” “It all seems very sudden.”
“Direct orders from Mr.hayes, and judging by the fathers actions…” he looks at frances “im guessing he is probably doing some horrible things”
