Gabriela and Sam went out on another hunt. This time to find a gang-related weapons dealer. While on the way, Sam noted that it seemed they were always going after poor people. Gabriela didn’t have a good response to this.
They dealt with the man easily enough, and went to drop him off at the police station. There, Reyes let Gabriela know that Hayes was in his office, so she went to speak with him. He looked troubled. He wanted a second opinion.
“I am troubled on what is to be done with our more, nocturnal sect of criminals. Every day, I am flooded with more and more reports of night-time attacks on innocent civilians. Do you find this troubling, too?”
“I do.” She keeps her eyes on his.
“The trouble with this sect of criminals, I’ve found, is that they’re coordinated. They work together to keep each other safe, they have their own code they obey without much hesitation. They have thwarted every attempt at legal prosecution or accountability.” “You must understand the sort of position I am in, don’t you?”
The Camarilla. “I understand.”
“What do you suggest I do, miss Ortega, in holding these criminals accountable?”
She suggested at the very least not provoking them alone. Then, after some consideration, she said that if he could bring her the blood of these criminals, she might be able to make something happen. If he did as she said, he’d call and they’d meet at the abandoned house where Gabriela had last killed a man1.
