Seeking more information on The Saint, Kaveh ventured to The Blessed Sacrament. There he saw Lorenzo and Bernard. On his way out, Bernard said that he’d be visiting soon. Lorenzo said he’d felt called to the river and walked with Kaveh as they made small talk. Then, they arrived.
Lorenzo is chanting the Lord’s Prayer as he kneels before the waters. The night sky begins to replace itself with a gray fog, shrouding the area. The waters recede, and a building rises from them. A mission building, with classic Spanish architecture, a wooden cross, and a voice beckoning from inside, speaking Spanish.
“The blood of the clans…”
Lorenzo believed that The Saint’s mission laid before them, as peering through what Kaveh recognized as Stygia, the realm of the dead, of what is and what was, they saw the structure.
After Lorenzo left, Kaveh poked around the river with a stick, collecting a sample of blood. He then met with Neres to ask her to analyze it. She expressed some concern about Lorenzo’s obsession with the past and his glorifying of the Spanish empire. When Kaveh asked about her history with Mazhar she was quick to dismiss it as unimportant and eject him from the vehicle.
