Kaveh met with Mercutio to inform him of what had happened at the gala1. Fiora had told him about it, apparently. Mercutio had also encouraged Fiora to lead the family, but she would doubtless face trouble along the way. He asked Kaveh protect her.
Fiora rubs her temples. “I pay a visit to my uncle out of the kindness of my heart, and he repays me by asking you to get involved in Giovanni politics.” “I will explain. I have decided, yes, that I am going to become the Anziani. This will not be a popular decision. Especially not once the Giovanni family sends one of their own, here.”
The Giovanni family would be sending one of their own to nominate for Anziani, supposedly someone from LA. The Pisanobs had also expressed their desire to lead, something Fiora wasn’t happy about.
Fiora refrains from delivering an insult. The man who greeted Kaveh at the door kindly offers a mug of tea. Fiora explains: “The Pisanobs and the Milliners are bitter enemies. Francesca Pisanob lacks class, wisdom, and any necromantic prowess.”
She was assured they had almost no chance of winning, but she’d like to make sure of it. If he could make her a certain charm, it might help.
