Calimastia went to feed at a bar, but as she left, she could sense someone watching her. That someone was none other than Lieutenant Mordecai Hayes. She noticed that he wasn’t sweating, and she couldn’t sense a heartbeat.
He asked how she sustained herself (and didn’t seem to like the fact she maintained a herd). But otherwise proceeded with questioning her as to anything she knew about Father Lorenzo or Father Bernard. She knew neither, as she didn’t tend to associate with Lasombra. Then, they parted. She suggested he see the Prince to be acknowledged as kindred, but he calmly stated he was responsible only to the city of Sacramento.
She then reported him to the Scourge.
